Outdoor Activities and Culture
Academy participants can choose daily between outdoor or cultural activities. These sessions run in parallel, allowing participants to select their preferred activity each day. Alternatively, you may explore Lysebu’s amenities and surroundings, go for a walk, or engage in personal activities.
Outdoor Activities
Norway’s outdoor life (friluftsliv) is an essential part of the country’s culture and identity. It is a lifestyle that encourages time spent in nature, whether hiking, skiing, fishing, or simply enjoying the landscape. With majestic fjords, towering mountains and lush forests, Norway offers a vast range of outdoor experiences.
The concept of allemannsretten (the right to roam) allows free access to nature, making it easy for people to enjoy hiking, camping, and excursions regardless of where they live. Cabins and trails are easily accessible, fostering a deep connection between Norwegians and their local natural surroundings.
Spending time outdoors promotes both physical health and mental well-being. Norwegians are known for their year-round activity, from summer hikes to winter skiing.
At its core, friluftsliv is more than just activities—it is a philosophy that values the beauty of nature and its role in enhancing well-being.
